Space Week got off to a great start! The kids are so funny when they talk about stuff they really don't know about. One day this week we are doing a cooperative story and I cant wait to see what we will get written down!
Circle Time: My Race Into Space
I found this book read online. It is just a preview of the actual story, but the part they can watch is perfect for them and it can be watched over and over. Which we did!! It's was so cute, I've found it on Amazon and am ordering it. I cant believe with all the books in this house I don't have any space books!! Scratch amazon, I just found it on Barnes & Noble for $2.75. Gotta love a bargain. :)

Song/Rhyme: 5 Brave Astronauts
5 Brave astronauts took off to Outer Space.
The first floated away without a trace.
The second somersaulted past the moon.
The third one sang a funny space tune.
The fourth started counting 3. 2. 1.
And the fifth said "oh what fun!"
Art Project: Spaceships
I glued 2 small foam plates together to make a "spaceship" type shape. I am pretty sure bowls would have worked better, but they still came out cute! I had the kids wrap the spaceship in aluminum foil. This is really good for their fine motor skills. I then gave them each their own glue to start to decorate with puffy balls and stickers the way they wanted. I asked if they wanted aliens to ride the spaceship and they did, so we added a few alien stickers too!
I heart school supplies!
I added some cute new things to the daycare to make their day a little more like "school'. I love Target's $1 aisle. I was able to get this tags for only a $1 for the pack. The kids can already pick out their own names and the names of their friends. I know that each child at least knows, S P J & E! :)
I use a combination of lesson plan ideas from all sorts of sources and websites. Since most of the world starts back to school after labor day, our lessons will continue to be "summer" themes until then. I look forward to moving into the more preschool like lessons in September!
